Do we provide rentals? We do not provide tables and chairs. Please contact your rental company or caterer for these items.
May I choose my own caterer? We provide an approved list of caterers who have knowledge and training running an event at an historical site. MPL must vet any caterer not on the preferred list and make sure they meet our high standards for working in the Maverick Carter House. They all must provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance naming MPL as an additional insured.
Serving alcohol? All bartenders provided by your caterer must be TABC licensed for serving alcohol. The caterer must supply a liquor license/TABC certification documents. It is recommended for 1 bartender per 75 or 100 guests.
Smoking? The entire property is a smoke free environment.
Time needed for set up and take down? Your vendors may have access up to 4 hours prior to the event. They will have 2 hours to clean up and remove all trash and rentals. There is risk of loosing part of the deposit if the property is not totally cleaned.
Wedding services in the chapel? A small wedding may be performed in the chapel.
How many people can the inside of the home hold? Inside standing for a cocktail event, the home may hold up to approximately 120. Seated inside, the tables and chairs could be configured to hold up to approximately 75. Outside grounds may be configured to hold up to 250 or more seated and up to approximately 500-600 with some seating and standing.
Tents and electrical outlets outside? There are several dedicated 120 volt and one 220 volt electrical outlets for caterers and bands throughout the grounds. There are areas appropriate to place tents in the front and back of the house.
Deposit? The deposit is half of the rental rate of an event which includes saving the date and will be refunded if the event is canceled 14 days before the date. In addition, there is a refundable damage deposit of $500.
Noise Restrictions? The premise is located in the River District and is under Downtown Zoning. In this area the city ordinance imposes a maximum decibel level of 72 dBA.
Parking? Parking is available in the south lot next door to the Maverick Carter House through Hospitality Parking; they may also provide valet. The Tobin Center parking garage is across the street as well.
Educational programming events? A refundable deposit only when they meet our mission statement criteria.
